We have been so blessed over the last couple of weeks to host not just one, but two awesome teams of volunteers who helped us prepare for this coming summer and make some much-needed upgrades to the camp!

From May 28-June 6, a team of 20, including volunteers from Bethany Community Church, Bethel EMC, and the ECM IT committee were at the camp. They completed a number of jobs, including:

  • removing 16 cabin doors and screen doors, reframing the doorways, installing new cabin doors and screen doors, and painting all the screen doors
  • installing a new window in cabin 8
  • removing the deck from cabin B where the footings had heaved up due to frost, replacing the footings with helical piles and rebuilding the deck
  • replacing the lighting in the office
  • adding 30 amp power to a campsite
  • removing an unneeded electrical pole
  • adding 4 security cameras
  • burying phone lines
  • installing fibre link
  • removing old paging system
  • completing outdoor area lighting project
  • assisting in the office with computer and printer issues
  • installing new phones and phone system
  • feeding the team everyday with delicious food

Then, from June 9-11, a small but mighty team of 4 from Wilmot Centre EMC joined us. This team completed even more projects, including:
  • Painting the outside of the Ark
  • installing paneling on the office ceiling
  • Building a new outdoor Gaga Ball pit
Thanks also to Leisha for her work last summer creating the adorable updated animal window art in preparation for the newly painted Ark!

We are so grateful for the passionate volunteers who give their time, skills, and finances to help Mishewah continue to grow and thrive! We couldn’t do it without you!
