There’s something special about stepping away from the busyness of everyday life together.

Between work, school, sports, arts, screens, errands, and everything else that fills our schedules, it can be difficult to find real, meaningful time together as a family. Family Camp offers something increasingly rare: the opportunity to slow down, reconnect, and make space for the things that matter most.

Research continues to show the importance of shared experiences away from normal routines. Studies highlighted by the Children & Nature Network found that families who attended family camps often came away feeling more connected, refreshed, and encouraged simply because they had intentional time together away from everyday pressures and distractions.

At Family Camp, those moments happen naturally.

They happen around campfires and picnic tables. During chapel services and waterfront afternoons. Through shared meals, laughter during activities, late-night conversations, and quiet moments together under the trees. Without the usual pace of everyday life pulling everyone in different directions, families often rediscover the joy of simply being together.

Growing Together in Faith

Family Camp is also a meaningful opportunity to grow in faith together.

Research into intergenerational faith formation has shown that faith is often strengthened most through shared experiences across generations. Worshipping, learning, serving, and praying together helps build lasting faith and deeper connections, not only within families, but within the wider church community as well.

At camp, faith is woven naturally into the rhythms of the day. Whether it’s singing together in chapel, conversations after a speaker session, or moments of prayer shared as a family, these experiences often become some of the most lasting memories of the week.

A Community That Feels Like Family

One of the most special parts of Family Camp is the community that forms throughout the week.

Strangers quickly become friends. Kids build friendships that continue long after camp ends. Parents connect with others walking through similar seasons of life. Over time, many families discover that camp becomes more than just a summer getaway. It becomes a second home and a second family.

Family Camp creates space for families to reconnect in ways that can be difficult to find at home. Family Camp isn’t about planning the perfect vacation. It’s about making space to rest, reconnect, grow in faith, and create memories together.

And for younger children, Family Camp can also be a wonderful introduction to the camp experience, helping them become comfortable and excited about future adventures at Mishewah kids camp.
